5 Tips to Stay on Track with Your Fitness Goals This Christmas

Christmas is almost here, and I am sure we are all looking forward to a well deserved break, relaxing with friends and family, and over indulging in plenty of delicious food! Whilst we are big promoters of a balanced lifestyle, we know that Christmas can be a time of year where our health and fitness takes a bit of a slip. So, we thought we would provide these 5 useful tips to help you stay on track with your fitness goals, whilst still being able to enjoy all the pleasures Christmas has to offer!

Tip 1: Give the gift of fitness

Whether you’re buying for a seasoned athlete or someone just starting out, gym and sporting equipment makes for the perfect Christmas gift. What’s great about most fitness equipment is that it can be enjoyed by everyone, so you can still spend time with the family whilst staying active. To make buying easier, we’ve completed the following Christmas gift guides:

Tip 2: Schedule it in

Holiday season is typically GO GO GO, and as we race around to family dinners, social gatherings and end of year events, it can be easy to lose track of time. To make sure we can still fit a workout regime into our crammed up Christmas calendars, schedule your workouts in advance. Whether you have 60 minutes, 45 minutes or 30 minutes to spare, show up and do the work because any workout is better than no workout!

Tip 3: Take advantage of the rest days

The traditional two weeks of annual leave at the end of every year is well and truly earned after a hard year at work, especially in 2020! So, make the most of the time to rest! We recently wrote a blog on the importance of recovery and how it benefits our training and progression. If you feel tired and worn out, enjoy the down time, eat wholesome foods (when possible) and give your body the time it needs to revive itself - it’ll do you the world of good!

Tip 4: Get outdoors

In general, we tend to be more active when we are outdoors, and luckily for Australians, we are blessed to experience Christmas right in the middle of summer. Make the most of the sunshine this year and get outside for a walk, swim or bike ride. Kick the footy with the kids. Attend a beach yoga session. Do anything that involves getting outdoors and moving your body!

Tip 5: Stay in contact with your accountability partner

Many of us who remain consistent in our health and fitness journey do so because we have someone who keeps us accountable. Whether it's your friend, family member, personal trainer or co-worker, don’t lose contact with them over the Christmas break. Check in with each other regularly and encourage each other to stay on track.

We hope you find these tips useful! And in the spirit of Christmas, head over to instagram to check out our 12 DAYS OF FITMAS GIVEAWAY!
