Upper Body Machines

Filter

Chest, back, shoulders, arms — upper body day covers a lot of ground, and free weights alone can only take you so far before your grip gives out before your muscles do. Our upper body machines fix that. Each one guides the movement along a fixed path, so you can push a lat pulldown or cable crossover to genuine failure without needing a spotter standing over you.

This collection covers the full spread of what we stock: lat pulldown and seated row machines for your back, pec deck and cable crossover machines for your chest, iso-lateral shoulder and bench press machines for pressing strength, and bicep curl / tricep extension machines for the bits everyone secretly trains a bit too much.

We test a lot of these ourselves before they go online, in our showroom in Cheltenham, Victoria, Melbourne's largest fitness equipment showroom. If you'd rather try before you buy, you're welcome to come in and pull on a lat pulldown machine before you commit to one.

Built from commercial-grade steel and designed for daily use, these machines suit a home gym just as well as a 24-hour commercial floor. At World Fitness Australia, we back them with local support, genuine spare parts, and a team who can actually tell you the difference between a pec deck and a cable crossover (more people ask than you'd think).

    FAQs

Mostly your chest, back, shoulders, biceps and triceps, pretty much everything above the belt. Some machines, like the multi-station units, will hit your core too if you're using them to stabilise through the movement.

Better is the wrong word, different is closer. Machines let you isolate a muscle and learn the movement pattern without needing a spotter, which is why we sell so many to people rehabbing an injury or just starting out. Free weights build more stabiliser strength because you're controlling the bar or dumbbell yourself. Most serious lifters, and most of our customers, end up using both.

Two to three times a week works for most people, with at least 48 hours between sessions that hit the same muscle group. If you're using these alongside free weights, plan your split around whichever session is heavier.

A chest press mimics a bench press, it's a pushing motion that also works your triceps and front shoulders. A pec deck isolates the chest through a fly motion, with much less shoulder and tricep involvement. If your shoulders ache on a chest press, a pec deck is usually the easier option.

Pin-loaded (selectorised) machines use a weight stack and a pin, so you can change the load in seconds. Plate-loaded machines use standard Olympic plates, which usually means a higher maximum load but a bit more setup time between sets. Commercial gyms tend to run both.

For most home gyms, a compact combo unit like the BodyIron PR100 Lat Pulldown / Low Row Machine delivers two major back exercises in one small footprint. If you've got more space and want to grow into chest presses, curls and cable work later, an all-in-one functional trainer is worth the extra room.

Depends on your budget, your space, and who'll actually be using it. The PR100 is a plate-loaded entry option, the Commercial 110kg Lat Pulldown & Seated Row Machine is a pin-loaded, quick-adjust option built for daily commercial use, and our AccessFit Lat Pulldown & Low Row is purpose-built with a lowered, wheelchair-accessible frame for inclusive strength training.

Yes. Our AccessFit Commercial Lat Pulldown & Low Row is built for wheelchair users, with a lowered seat position and open frame so it's genuinely inclusive for para and adaptive strength training. It's a feature our team gets asked about regularly by clubs and rehab facilities.

Home gym users are usually well covered by a 60–90kg stack. Commercial facilities with stronger members should look at 110kg+ options like the Commercial Pro Elite Lat Pull Down / Low Row Machine or the Power Smith Machine Dual System Bench Press. Give us a call if you're not sure, we can match stack weight to who's actually using the machine.

Yes. Multi-station machines such as our 4-Way, 5-Way and 8-Way Stations, or the Standing Multi Flight, let you or several gym members train chest, back, shoulders and arms from a single frame, which is handy on a busy commercial floor or in a space-limited home gym.

Yes. World Fitness Australia offers professional installation across Australia, and every upper body machine we sell carries a manufacturer warranty that varies by brand and model. Our team has installed and serviced these machines in commercial gyms and homes nationwide, and you're welcome to test one in person at our Cheltenham, Victoria showroom before you order.
