5 Tips to get Summer Ready

With summer just around the corner, it’s time to get our mental health and physical wellbeing back on track, especially after the stressful and unusual year we’ve had so far.

The World Fitness team has pulled together 5 tips to help get your mind & body back in shape & in a positive state, so you can kick off summer the right way.

1. Establishing & getting back into a routine

By establishing a daily routine, this is the first step toward promoting overall improved health & wellness. There are many benefits to a routine, which can include improving stress levels, allowing better quality of sleep, as well as promoting better health overall. You’ll now find that you have the time to fuel your body with the right foods, make time for some sort of physical exercise each day, while also allowing yourself time to relax, which can assist with reducing levels of anxiety.

So to begin your journey, start by planning out a daily routine, to relieve you from stress & assist with increased productivity, ensuring you have enough time to do the things that matter to you the most.

2. Keeping yourself accountable and tracking your progression

First of all, it is so extremely important to visualise and physically write down your health & fitness goals. By doing this, you can re-visit them frequently and compare/track your progress against them.

When you feel like you’re losing sight of why you started this journey, your goals can remind you of your ‘why’ and they’ll help you to refocus and get back on track - keeping yourself accountable is a must.

3. Giving yourself the right tools to make the necessary changes

It goes without saying that you need to invest in yourself, just as much or if not more than those luxury items. Investing in the right tools to make positive health and wellbeing changes could include finding the right PT or training coach for guidance, treating yourself to some new gym gear for an additional motivation boost, purchasing the necessary equipment to help you reach your fitness goals or finding a healthy & nutritious recipe book with meals you actually enjoy.

Review your written down goals and figure out exactly what you’re going to need in order to achieve those goals.

4. Find a friend, partner, co-worker or family member to go through the process with

If you’re someone who struggles with sticking to a commitment, perhaps it’s time to find a partner to go on this journey with. By finding someone who has similar goals to your own, you can assist each other with ongoing motivation & encouragement, use one another as a support system when looking for advice, tips or suggestions, you can hold each other accountable and assign regular progress check ins.

This will increase your chances of sticking to your health & fitness routine and can actually make the entire process more enjoyable.

5. Have confidence and believe in yourself

If you believe, you will succeed.

In fact, self doubt is one of the largest factors that causes people to give up.

It’s important to feel confident in the skin you’re in now, whilst also feeling confident about the goals you’ve set for yourself, along with the upcoming improvements you want to make towards your mental and physical health.

So it’s time to remove that self-doubt and be proud of how far you’ve come… and of course, never stop pushing yourself, to be the best you can be.
